Note to PAX and FA's

So here is the deal, airline travel doesn't have to be a nightmare for the passenger or the flight attendant. It's really not that hard. There is a savvy to flying. But you don't have to fly 100 thousand miles to have it either... Pax (which means passenger) in airline lingo): when traveling you are allowed one luggage and a personal item. The personal item should not be as large as your luggage. Your personal item should fit under your seat (or the seat in front of you depending on your airline). The item should in no way block egress (ability to get out) to the main aisle of the aircraft. If your bags are to heavy for you to lift, check it. If you can't lift it your attendant should not either. Most airlines are asking their flight attendants not to lift bags as the number of back/shoulder injuries are on the increase. If you are in need of assistance let the gate agent (this is the person who checks you in at the gate and scans/takes your ticket before you go down the jetway onto the plane) know . They will either help you board early in order that your flight attendant can help you or will check your bag for you; normally with no charge. Waiting for the a "strong" man to lift your bag after entering the airplane is a thing of the past. Again many flight attendants will not lift your bags as it is no long a requirement and often frowned upon. Once you have boarded the aircraft. Please be seated as soon as possible. When possible we ask that you please, use the bathroom before you board. This takes time management and is not always possible. Also if you take medications, be responsible. Not all airlines/ flights have the ability to give out drinks during boarding. Having pax in the galley (what you call a kitchen) during boarding is often inconvenient at best. Be prepared/responsible for your own health needs, and those of your traveling companions. F/A's (flight attendants) the pax we have most often don't know any better. Just remember that common sense is why you were hired. Give the Pax a break. No grandma should not be traveling alone. Yep those kids are bad and clearly were not taught any better. No it doesn't matter how many times you as for their trash, they will still leave it in the seatback pocket. Ha, yes they did hear you ask to bring forward their seat, fasten their seatbelt, and turn off all electronic devices. They simply thought you meant all the other Paxs on board.
